Volume confirmation
Volume above average validates a breakout rather than marking it as a false move.
What it is
Volume confirmation means that a price move is backed by above-average participation. A breakout through resistance that happens on 2× or 3× normal volume is more likely to follow through than one that prints on thin volume.
How it shows up in the scanners
The Breaking Out scanner shows volume versus average, highlighted at 2× and 3× on each signal card. The Reversal Finder's Volume Surge component fires when volume reaches 2× the 14-day average MA — a green candle on that surge is a buying frenzy signal, red is a selling frenzy, and both often precede reversals.
The Rubber-Band Rule (Momentum Pullback)
In the Momentum Pullback screener, volume confirmation is one of three required elements: price must snap back within 1 ATR of the EMA21, and that pullback should occur on elevated relative volume to confirm the trend is intact rather than breaking down.
